Light understory runs a few hundred dollars an acre. Heavy vine-bound thicket costs more because the machine earns it. And the honest part: it grows back. This is coastal North Carolina; everything grows back. A light maintenance pass every year or two holds the woods open at a fraction of the first cut.

One local note. Brunswick County is one of the few places on earth where Venus flytraps grow wild, in the wet savanna edges some parcels touch.
